Seed Library
The Highland Park Seed Library has been revitalized thanks to a partnership between Sustainable Highland Park, Highland Park Public Library (HPPL), the Good Earth Community Garden, and RaĂces Cultural Center EcoCulture. Its permanent home is at HPPL, but you’ll also find it at SHP’s table during select events.
Have seeds from your garden to share? Contributing helps preserve plant diversity and makes growing more accessible for everyone. We are collecting seeds from native plants, fruits, and vegetables to distribute free of charge at community events throughout the year.
How to Donate Seeds:
- Remove seeds from seed pods or flower heads, and be sure they are dehusked and fully dried.
- Label each donation with the plant name (common and/or botanical) and the year harvested (must be no more than two years old).
- Drop seeds off at the Highland Park Public Library.
Don’t forget to admire the hand-painted “Seed Catalog” by local artist Grace McKenna while you browse or donate!
Questions? Contact Sustainable Highland Park or Melaina Squicciarini, Youth Services Librarian.
Please remember to get permission before collecting seeds from private or public properties.
